New York is ranked first, with 2,639 online furniture stores with an average online furniture price of $1,869 per square foot.
Atlanta is the second most popular city for online purchases of furniture, with 1,094 online furniture shops and an average furniture price per square feet of $2,049 per square yard.
New Yorkers are most likely to shop at online furniture retailer furniturespot.com, which has a high ratio of customers shopping online to physical purchases.
New Jersey and Massachusetts also rank highly, with more than 2,000 online furniture locations with an online furniture average price of nearly $1 per square square foot and more than $1.25 per square yards per square mile.

The largest metropolitan areas in this category are Boston-Taunton-Marquette, MA (second with an annual internet furniture retail volume of nearly 3.2 billion), Washington-Arlington-Alexandria, DC (fourth with over 2.4 billion) and Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington, PA (fifth with over 1.6 billion).
