On the eve of the Masters, Tiger Woods and his girlfriend, Ashley, were in the process of cleaning their apartment when Woods pulled up to his front door.
A few seconds later, he called out to his wife and two children, telling them, “Tiger, Tiger!”
He said it again, louder this time, and called his kids to say, “Daddy!
Daddy!”
The call was recorded and later posted on Instagram.
Woods and Ashley were arrested and charged with burglary.
On Monday, Woods, 37, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
“It was a stupid thing to do,” Woods told The Washington Times.
“There was no malice, no intent.”
The Woodses’ divorce is in the midst of being finalized.
In a statement released after the arrest, Ashley Woods said, “This was not an emotional outburst.
This was an aggressive act of revenge, and we believe that it was not intentional.”
The pair have denied the accusations.
The arrest comes as the PGA tour’s top stars and celebrities, including actor Matthew McConaughey, comedian Ricky Gervais and tennis star Novak Djokovic, have voiced their support for Woods, who is currently ranked No. 1 in the world.
Gervas tweeted, “Gotta say, it’s hard to watch the news and think Tiger Woods is going to play at Augusta this year.
This is a guy who has never played an amateur golf tournament.
He was not a professional.
“He’s a legend. “
He’s a man of honor and he deserves a lot of credit for this.””
