Ashley Home, one of the nation’s largest home improvement retailers, said Monday that it is recalling approximately 1 million square feet of its furniture due to the risk of fire, and that it will replace or replace affected items at no cost to consumers.
The company also said that it expects to recall another million square yards of furniture this week.
Ashley Home said that the recall affects approximately 4,000 residential units in the Los Angeles area.
Ashley Home said the affected items were purchased in July 2017.
The company said that because it was a small manufacturer of high-quality furniture, it has not been notified of any potential fires or other incidents.
The affected products were made by several manufacturers, including Belmont, Beavertown, C.M.R. Furniture, Durex, Fenton Furniture and Henry & White Furniture.
Ashley said that this recall does not affect the manufacture or availability of other items of furniture, including tables and chairs.
The company did not say when the recalled items might be replaced.
This is a developing story.
